The open enrollment period for consumers shopping for health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act continues through January 15, two weeks longer than previous years. Enroll before December 15 for coverage in January However, if you want coverage to begin on January 1, you must enroll by December 15, according to Steph Pugh, a certified application counselor with Lifecare in Canton, a federally qualified health center. Enrollments between December 15 and January 15

    De Blasio admin’s $34B health insurance contract doesn’t add up

    The de Blasio administration missed a glaring math error when choosing a new health care insurance provider for 275,000 retired city workers that could cost taxpayers “tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars” in lost revenue, according to a bombshell claim filed by rival bidder Aetna, the state’s largest Medicare provider. Aetna has sued the city alleging the selection process was fixed to favor Alliance, a consortium that includes Emblem Health and Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield and has strong ties to union leaders, to operate the new Medicare Advantage Plus program.
